the guys ive met who work for say sky lift are not!

 

I looked at 16 60ft limes down a drive on the side of a wood last month,take the dead tops and reduce to sound wood was the spec,with a mewp i could do it easily in a day.....in my position id rather do 5 a day and give myself somthing to fill the diary in and make it last three days than say pay sky lift or another company £600 for the hire plus my fee.

 

if i was working for other companys ive subbed or been employed buy they would of definietly used a mewp.

 

id rather climb trees, but when i have used them experienced cutters like your self would be supprised how much time they shave off the job and how easy it makes it.

not a fan of those tiny accsess things though give me a big old 50m lorry based or a mog platform any day although it does get a bit boring!

Skyhuck, How would you take down a tree that was quite obviously too dangerous to climb, unfellable because of it's proximity to buildings etc, and no nearby trees to find an anchor point, not near a road to get in a skyhook?

If HAD to use a MEWP i would, but in 14 years+ i've never had to and i have never turned a tree down.

All I can say is you must have taken some risks.

 

Either that or you have not realised you were taking a risk

 

I have done at least three jobs in the last year that there was no other option than to use the MEWP. Two of those were passed on to me by other Tree Surgeons, who simply held their hands up.

Ditto. 18 years and never needed a mewp to do a tree. Have occasionaly used them for clearing cliffs of vegitation. Risk is what this job is all about.

That is exactly the point, this job shouldn't be. Maybe in days gone by, but with all the equipment we have at our disposal, there is now no need to risk your life, because it is your life we are talking about.
