At the moment I work both as a sub contractor as well as doing independent work.

I have just bought a new van and am think about putting graphics on it to promote my services. At the same time I recognise that to some extent my services compete with that of my clients. If I put graphics on the van it will inevitably be advertising my work on my clients sites. I fully understand the potential conflicts in this situation. In this industry to what extent would this be acceptable or otherwise.

It maybe that I go for magnetic strips which would be on and off when as i want them. I can see a considerable advantage in this to help prevent advertising a parked and abandoned van full of saws in the middle of nowhere.

Your thoughts please Ladies and gentleman?

Thanks D

Many will not mind. Just talk to your clients and if you have good standings they will not mind :001_smile: I believe it looks better when tree firms work together, rather than rivalling each other :001_smile:

There are millions of trees out there and enough work to keep everyone busy

I'd be much more likely to hire you and a van if it did NOT have your graphics on.

personally I wouldn't deal with you if you turned up with your name on my job, looks unprofessional on my companies part imo, sort of as if I aren't professional enough to to the job.

Get magnetic ones, & tell the guy you work for, that you are prepared to have his magnetic ones, on your vehicle when working for him, if he provides them. But when not working for him you will have your own signs on.

I find it acceptable , you work together , it's a thing called helping ?!

The view on customers is that a customer picks who they think is the better of the two their choice .

If however a customer was to ask you about another Job and you handed out one of your own business cards without saying well actually this is his job I'd be a bit pissed .

Like I say at the end of the day it's the potential customers choice on who they choose to pick , infant they would probably try you both and see who's cheaper

Whilst on magnetic signs... any idea of how powerful the magnet is? Was looking into getting writing on the sides of my 110 hardtop but its aluminium so would need a steel plate in the inside of the truck, dont wanna pay out for them and then find they wont stick!

Also like the idea of being to remove the writing as i use the vehicle for thinsg other than work.
