Chains for pulling timber

We have ended up with a universal chain that does pretty much every thing from dragging timber to lifting and chaining down loads. They do all the jobs we need a chain for, if you need a choke just form a loop and if you need to extend just tag another on, £15 ish for a 14` long chain is not bad. They have a rating but we have never managed to break a chain or shortener, we must have about 20 of them.

Where from Bob?

 

Rolson have these chains in their warehouse near reading for about £12 +vat but there is a minimum spend when you go there. The ebay ones are more expensive because of the p+p weight. Beware there are two different weight chains on the market, we use the heavier 3/8 chain and not the 5/16 one.

 

With a hook on each end it wont go through a key hole slider though.

 

The shorteners come off in seconds, they are only held on with a clevis pin and split pin. I have chopped them up in different lengths for loads of different jobs.

Dont take to much notice on the load limits because we have used these as bonds round trees while winching out of swamps and the 10 ton winch rope has broken without hurting the chains.

 

Either way works as a choke, they never come off.
