Alot of money but looks like a cracking bit of kit......... anyone ever used one??

Mobile bandsaw not woodmizer | eBay

Proper width 4 inch bands and can cut a massive 4'4" diametre...... it's a beast. Weighs over 2500kg so would need old or trailer license to tow. Is it worth the money compared to smaller cheaper mills?

Probably good value at about £25,000.00

IF one has a job for such a Mill.

Assuming is as described.

I believe that You Call That Big has one. Certainly a different size of mill.

I did speak to a chap fairly locally who has one and he didn't seem too happy with his. They are £47k new, and at that price I'd probably buy something German.

Isn't that the saw that apparently has a problem with blades cracking ? i'm sure someone on here has used one and had problems with the blades.

I would be interested to hear his problems too. 18 years of Autotrek ownership, I think I know the machine fairly well, I might be able to help in some way if he cannot get a satisfactory response from Loglogic, who I have always found very helpful and prompt in supply of parts(if somewhat expensive at times)

Still had the issue of wandering bands, more commonly associated with narrower band mills. My experience of running a 2 inch band (much smaller than an Autotrek, but bigger than WM) is that unless the alignment and band set are perfect, it will cut worse. That said, the alignment isn't hard to get right and the bands should be good from the box (though haven't been for me of late). Get a good band on a good alignment and it just cuts beautifully. I was cutting 15 inch diameter lime (soft, I know) 9 foot in 15 seconds the other day.

Blades can crack on stenner, wimmer, serrasaw mills too, either blade doctoring not good, blades run too long when dull when still cutting flat, radius in bottom of tooth gullit too small, even too aggressive grit on grinding wheel, and anyway cracks don't need to be terminal to a blade's life, centre punch or weld.....I run blades cut down from a bigger stenner saw, so a second full blades width of weld no problems.
