What stihl chainsaw would make a good mid range saw.

Hi guys I'm looking into getting a good stihl mid range saw. I'm currently running stihl 260's on 18" bars and I'm looking into some of the ms 300 and 400 range saws for Arb work pushing a 20" & 25" bar for chogging and felling purposes .

Do you guys have any advise from experience you could recommended or suggest.

ms 460 excellent solid robust saw put an 8 spline ring sprocket on it to wiz it up a bit eats wood on a 20 inch bar got enough poke for a 25 too not sure what the current stihl model is ...461 ???

460's replacement is the 461  and they are a true weapon, ideal for your desired use running 20 or 25" . . .. . 391 isn't a pro saw:thumbdown:. And don't bother looking at the soggy lump (441)

I was also advised by my local chainsaw repair man to give the 441 a miss and go for the 461 instead.

That's great guys think I will be edging more towards the ms460 /461 now .

I no you can run a 20/25" bar on a ms660 but i was thinking its a bit over kill and yeehaa, when this saw could be saved for more larger works.

I was looking at the 300 range to see if any thing was able for the 20/25" bar weight but was more light weight, especially when dangling the saw on the chog, but if it's the 460/461 that's what it will have to be.

Stihl 362 is my mid range saw. It's brilliant. Perfect power to weight and I send it to spud who tuned it up a touch and its ace.
