Yes, the trunk does but not the smaller branches?:confused1:

 

All the bark will eventually go to plates, its just a function of the girth increments, anecdotally some specimens do seem more prone to it than others

Thanks for all your input everyone. I am going to see them tomorrow for a site visit as i agree they are rarely correct i just wanted some info from other individuals than just my own thoughts. I guess the customer slung the ladders up for them pics. Cheers everyone

having had a closer look i'm starting to think it's no sycamore now...

 

could it be a liquidambar???

 

they are quite scaly all over...

 

They're more fissured than platy innit?
