Transparent resin.

If you leave it open it'll fill with crap and go scummy, a nice clear resin will stay clear, clean and shiny. Best of both worlds.

Don't use resin unless you are sure of what you are doing .Polyster resin shrinks and doesn't stick to wood.Polyurethane resin reacts with even the smallest amount of moisture in the wood using epoxy resin or glue with a clour in can work but might react to heat from the cup

K so for now ill just use melamine to harden the wood up and protect it a little

The Tree Doc is a nickname that some of my college mates used to call me as i

was one of those know it all types, and knew nothing.

Seriously though, your work is very unique, a deffinate sell at the Arb shows and the APF etc.
