Ignore me if this is stupid but I wondered why sometimes the caps came off on my MS260 and spilt oil/fuel, then I looked and (apologies for the pathetic girl terminology here) noticed you have to make sure the twisty bit is twisted a certain way round (obviously it can be in one of two positions) for it to fit on properly... you push it down and twist it and it feels on but it isn't, so I check it's in the sort of "open" position before I put it on now.

I know it sounds obvious but I'd been putting them on for ages before I even noticed that was the case as nine times out of ten it would go on properly so I hadn't had to think about it.

Hey klaymeb- youve got nothing on me- when i got my first quick release -on an ms200t i think- i was convinced that there was something broken, and bought three oil caps before i got a filling system to go on the oil side of the combi. Doh! It was a combo of overfilling and what you describe.

Very familiar, but why does it happen more with the 200 than the ground saws?

Is it because God likes to hear me swearing at my groundies?.....

It has only ever happened on the oil filler of both 200t's i have had. Not on the 020's and not on either 024 or 361??:confused1:

088 has screw types.

I have my oil turned up full, and fill up the saw with oil then tip the saw so the air escapes, I have never had the oil run out before the fuel it also makes getting the cap on easier and cleaner. Groundie one day got a shock, fueled up the saw and sent it up, 5 minutes later groundie covered in bar oil. Makes a change from me getting covered, Maybe that will teach him to put the caps on and check that they are on!
