I have stabilised at about 12 stone, which is about 1 less than when I started, I am not being super strict but just trying to stay under 100g carbs a day, which I do most days. Really need to start upping the exercise now. I have found it surprisingly easy not having crisps and toast, but I am drinking like a fish and have no intention of stopping. With 3 kids under 5 drinking is mandatory.

I was just under 15 stone when i started, I leveled out at about 13, ate loads of rubbish, felt rough and went up by about 5 or 6 pounds then got back to doing it properly. I'm at about 12 stone 10 ish now. Don't think the beer was doing me any favours!

Giving this a try at the moment. I'm not taking it to the extreme but like the basic principles behind it, only eating natural foods.

 

Anyone else on it? Any decent recipes to share?

 

I made this last night which was nice, even nicer this morning cold.

HI STEVE im going for it in the week or so right this paleo diet fruits vegetables nuts seeds lean meats small seafood i love so im looking to lose 10/12/15kgs so i need to get on my bike to thanks steve jon :thumbup:

I'm still avoiding bread, potatoes and milk, I have the odd treat like cream cakes and donuts now and then, but I'll never go back to egg and chips with 4 slices of bread.

 

My drinking was getting a bit out of hand, I was asked at the doc's how many units a week I was drink, it made me realise I was drinking most night, I know try to only drink on friday nights and the weekend.

I started this a couple of months ago and have lost about a stone, but mainly I've noticed that I've got more energy and don't need to eat as often. I'm only doing it 80% of the time though I reckon. I still have porridge for breakfast but before I used to have sugar on it but now have some chopped apple. It was the sugar that was the hardest for me to give up but after a couple of weeks your body gets into new habits and now if I do ever have a biscuit or something it tastes really sweet and chemically.

 

I eat a lot of nuts and have a piece of dark chocolate every day but it's not really costing me more money, or time. I make a big cottage pie with mashed cauliflower on top instead of mashed potato and that lasts a couple of days. I have fried strips of courgette instead of spaghetti and for a quick meal at home will have put some cooked ham or chicken in the bottom of a dish, pour chopped tomatoes on top and grate a tiny bit of cheese on top. I eat a lot of hard boiled eggs too. It's just a case of finding a new routine and then not feeling too guilty if you have something 'off limits'.

For an alternative diet based on plants check out the richroll podcasts. Read the book too 'finding ultra' It throws out lots of interesting facts that you can experiment with yourself. Don't dismiss it, read it and see what benefit it can be to you. Have lost 3 & half stone in 6 months.Dont feel hungry,recover from activity much better. It changed my life.
