Hi guys soon gonna be qualified in cs30/31looking at a stihl ms 391 with 20" bar is this suitable ?

Suitable for what?

Its not so much matching the saw to the man as the saw to the task at hand

It depends on the quantity of work you will be doing, if your on a farm and do the odd few trees and a fair bit of firewood then this would be a good choice.

If your going to groundy for a tree surgeon, then go for something smaller and more pro quality, say a ms261 or Husky 550 on a 13 inch.

Likewise if your looking to do some serious felling a pro level saw would outlast and out perform the 391.

Do you need 20"? If so, the husky 365 is a good option.

20 inch is the max bar for that saw and its a bit more than you need for a bit of snedding

If you are going to be felling you could do with more power. My choice would be a Husky 550.

My son is nearly 18 and my apprentice, he passed his basic tickets a few months ago, I got him a 550xp with 15" bar, its been ideal for him to learn with, it was stollen a couple of months ago, I replaced it without hesitation with another 550, great little saws, IMO.
