Gabion Wall Trimming!

Got instructed by engineers to cut back a 35ft high gabion wall that was covered in big ivy!

The ivy was growing so thick and matted the weight of it was endangering splitting the gabion crates. Anyone else get these unusual jobs?

Once cut back we now have to maintain it like a hedge every few years, give it a good trim

Just as an interesting point, I did a load of tree work at the home of the bloke that invented the gabion basket before tragically died. He was the most kind hearted and friendly bloke I ever had the privilege to know

The 4x4 was parked on the carpark at the top, used a sling to get me from the winch bumper over the wall then my cambium saver to make sure my rope didn't get pulled or braised on the gabions!

Was a soaking wet day, there was no dust or floating muck

Not wishing to derail the thread too much; what happes when the galvanising corrodes off the wire and the wire starts rusting?
