I have had a go twice at buying a cheap quad or compact tractor and given up. I usually buy a fourtrack or something similar and put muds on. Cheaper , less nickable and the seat stays dry. When I searched for a quad I came to the conclusion you need to spend 4-5k to get value for money and no headaches probably a Honda. But thats just me others I am sure have more luck.

Ebay is a good start point... we bought a KLF300 2WD for £1500 a couple of years ago....

Turned out to be a great machine...

Great machines.

I managed to get a cheap KLF220 (Bayou) after searching for a long time.

It tows the TW150 with relative ease. Impressive for only 220cc. Always starts first pull no matter how long it's been sitting.

I would recommend Kawasaki, I've had a Klf 300 and a KVF 650. I used them for a paddock spraying business I had. Never had a problem with them. 650 was an incredible machine, loads of power but will be over your budget. The little 300 was very good but I would suggest if you're doing a lot of towing go for 4 wheel drive.

I was had a Yamaha big bear 350 2wd, paid a grand for it from ebay, brilliant machine, towed it to jobs in a p6e then put that on the back of the quad to do the job. It got nicked thou:thumbdown:, the worst bit being that it could have been off on a job at the time it got nicked:crying::thumbdown: I was watching a 4wd 450 big bear on ebay a couple of weeks ago and that went for it£ 1250, a lot of quad for the money.:thumbup1:
