It really isn't that expensive to eradicate. I had some land with some on (about 50m2) and it cost £4k to get it removed. Make sure you get a letter confirming all treatment and also how long they will stand by their assessment it is all clear.

I've lost all faith in them and will just continue to turf people off. However, there was a lovely 80 yr old man with a handsaw out yesterday so I helped him load his car up and told him to come and ask me for help next time. Don't mind the odd good ol'boy every so often but younger capable of working lot can pay for it !!

I caught a guy on my land the other day with a chainsaw merrily helping himself ! When challenged he called me a rather unsavoury word and became quite aggressive. I made him unload all the logs out of his car into my truck (I thought about throwing his chainsaw into the river). He had no safety equipment at all and no doubt if he had had an accident then he would have sued me !!! I phoned the police, not lookin to press charges but to let them know an they said that as it is 'only' trespass that it is not a chargeable offence. The lovely young lady then proceeded to inform me that as I couldn't prove that I planted the tree that I could be argue it isn't mine !!! - go figure !! I had to bite my tongue and thanked her for her kind advice !! ...Next time the saw is going in the river !

£80 a m3 for mixed ash and oak (mainly oak). Delivered and tipped. Stacking is another £10.

Am looking for a 3.5t or a 5t digger with a thumb. Any idea where best to look ? Not looking for a beauty specimen as long as it is reliable. it will live on the farm and be used for ditching and woodland work.

I have found a Bulgarian company who sell 1m3 crated and stacked for €73 (approx £63 per m3) - I believe a stacked crate m3 is equivalent to 1.5m3 loose...can anyone confirm this ? Therefore, by my working 1m3 of loose will cost circa £40 delivered to Felixstowe port. I need to add charges for import duty and collection from TW port, but a container takes 48m3 (stacked) apparently so approx 72m3 loose wood for £2,900. If anyone has any contacts who can help with import costs and transport from the port it would be appreciated. Obviously high risk but could be worth a go if I can have it in the yard at £50-£55 per loose m3 ready to go and then sell at £90 per m3. = £35-£40 profit per m3, so could be a couple of grand in it. Unless I have got it completely wrong !!
