I applaud the "new generation" for taking a responsible attitude to safety, and I dont think its surprising that they see a chainsaw op without ppe as nearly naked (dreadful thought)

I bought some chainsaw chaps on impulse, I was at the counter buying a chain and a bloke walked in (WALKED) for a replacement pair. That did it for me.

After the 87 hurricane we would log/ring up everything and hope it wasnt there in the morning

Just slightly different times, so different attitudes are cool, better someone who wants it has it, but I deplore nicking

Its amazining how quickly it all disapears.I do some work for a mate whos a gamekeeper sometimes and quite often branches or complete trees at the side of the road have already gone when i go to look at it.

Chopped up a large ash in the manor grounds last week.Only knew about it cos someone had at least asked if he could clear it.We sold a couple of loads off it and i had some for myself as did my mate.

We left a bit of cordwood for the bloke to have for his honesty. He was there within minutes when we turned up to do the work.

Did a building site a few years ago.Lots of standing dead elm.The second day on it the neighbour said as soon as we drove off a small army appeared with wheelbarrows and bowsaws.I always leave anything overnight as 10`lengths so it cant just be lifted by anyone but the most determined.

Theres still nothing to suggest this guy was nicking anything. The OP has no idea if the guy may have had permission from the parish council or anything...just another pointless thread full of assumptions and accusations

It wasn't his (on council land) i wouldn't mind but he left all the rubbish. I am all for the untrained idiot hurting themselves, they may learn something or get some proper training

Oh dear, not again!! Saying silly things and getting all girlie about something that has NOTHING to do with you
