Knackered Navara.

Guy the log dumped his Navara at our workshops because it "stopped". He is a mate so I attacked it last week to see what was wrong with it. The timing chain had broken so I thought ok a few bent valves and a new chain kit that wont take long.

Wrong.

You cant get the timing cover off the front of the engine because the oil pump hangs down about 15mm so it wont come forward, so the sump has to come off. You cant get the sump off because there are two bolts that hold it on inside the bellhousing. So its engine out but you cant pull it forward because the diff casing is in the way so that has to be dropped.. What a complete of a motor.

No matter what truck you buy they all have their problems. The hilux injector seals leak carbon into the eng oil which blocks the oil pump pick up. The ranger springs and gearboxs. L200 just about everything. Puma engine in the defender egr system. the list just goes on and on. I think you need to buy a genuine truck with good history the rest is just pure luck.
