You don't "have to" BUT, if something goes wrong on site and someone gets hurt, how do you PROVE you did a verbal??, which IS mandatory

I have to say I have a pair of high flex and advance a, and 90% is spent in my type a as i find them much safer to work in when big climbs are in call only bring out my type c's for comercial work.

Type cs for me. Thats what I have always climbed in so im used to them. Do take a pair of shorts with me on the hottest days tho and change into them if I can once all cutting has been done.

Please be care full when using terms like "legislation" there is very little "legislation" that applies to our work.

 

You ain't gonna get a policeman coming on site and arresting you for wearing the wrong pants or not having your NPTC.

 

The "guidance" will however be seen as best practice by a judge, should something go badly wrong, and if you have employees (over whom you do LEGALLY have a "duty of care") and you have not followed current best practice, you could well find you have fallen foul of the law.

but also there has never been a 'law' to say you cant use A's just best pratice to say you should'nt!!

i only ever where type a trousers as i hate wearing all-round protection as i think they are just to hot. I never cut behind my self when im up a tree so why should i where alround .

 

i do hope you never hang your saw from the back of your harness or never pick it up with the engine running

why do you not just never cut near your legs and wear shorts
