Steve's right, it will flop and not self tend. Yeah, I think the rope comes installed on the zillion and is stitched on both ends- you'd have to cut an end off to install/remove.

Will find out soon enough when Mark sends me one to try out

You wouldn't want one....you are a huge hitch fanatic and wouldnt go anywhere near a zigzag or anything similar. I read this on arbtalk so know its true

I know what you mean about the zig zag, there's little resistance when advancing up the tree/off load which allows self tending, but if you can imagine the zillon when you're advancing up the tree...if it drops into the right position when unloaded...and with enough weight on the running end it could self tail. Will find out soon enough when Mark sends me one to try out

That ship has sailed mate.:001_tongue:

Ill be honest as a climbers POV and not a seller, the ZZ is a very impressive device, with the right rope. That goes for the original ZZ as Ive not tried the new one yet.

I would never go back to a sling/prussik loop or a hitch climber/pulley advanced hitch setup.

Drew, so it wont open like a Grillion?

Steve, I'd give the zillon a go on a DdRT setup as it looks simple like a hitch with a well designed single attachment point, not too bulky and in your face like the zigzag.

Mark, the ship sailed with zig zag for sure, it's in la la land, send me a zillon, if I like it I'll buy it :001_smile:

Has anyone used it with 11.7 rope like Imori of Bluetongue? The best thing about the spiderjack for me is the ability for it to self tend. If the ZZ can do this equally well then I'm very interested.

Had a little play about with the ZZ and zillion on Monday.

Only messing about on the climbing wall so obviously nowhere near a proper try out, but well, its better than the original zigzag so there probably not much more to say really.:laugh1: The rubber around the carabiner hole is very good, there is no chance a crab will slip about in there!

The zillon is also a nice bit of kit and works well with the supplied rope.It is a bit more compact than the ZZ not only becase it has no swivel joint but also because it has one less link on the friction bit.

There will be a replacement rope available which will just have one sewn eye and supplied heat tubing to cover a stopper knot etc.

We have the prices up on the web site now, still looking for a Feb 2014 release date.
