  4. Hi mike lyon had it said all ok happens straight out of the box didnt get mine back for over a week due to dont know what exactly complained so they gave me a new zz to ease my mind. Now that one is same after onky three weeks doing burs is part of petzl checks list still shouldnt happen that quick
  5. Also yes fine sandpaper is not a file but they do the same remove material of strength from an item
  6. Well as i understand it if two peices of metal make contact with each other enought to cause damage iie wear that is impact and if this is ongoing it may cause a fracture causing item to structualy fail
  7. Sorry before im told off the actual remedy from petzl is use a fine grade sandpaper to remove burs but this still slowly reduces thickness of the side walls
  8. Ok so straight out the box the bottom link hits the main body and starts to wear away at the main body causing burs petzl says just file these burs down loler examiner say they are stress raisers and how far can you file down before its too much hense fail,im also concerned about overtime impact fractutres What do you think
  9. Hi if any loler examiners have lolered a zz yet pls pls msg me as i need advice had a zz fail examination
  10. Just an update have been told wear marks are normal and occure straight out of box also told to file down any burs but they replaced mine and marks already there oh yes and had one fail loler exam for this reason
  11. also if those marks are caused from the zigzag hitting the body that has to be a design flaw that will just get worse do you not think
  12. did yours crack on side plates then ?????
  13. yer sorry cant take another on that zz as gone off to be inspected the wear marks by the pulley behind lip of pulley rope doesnt reach that point jagged rough edges to them
  14. Hi has any one who uses the zz2 got this issue, for the life of me I cant work out how these marks have come from as rope doesnt get past lip on pulley, should this be an issue off concern or an issue under loler ??????????????
  15. if you look at each side of pulley you will see wear marks
  16. Got wear mark on both side plates on outside ade one each side inside of pulleywheel
  17. Yep coating removed shinny metal showing etc no visual cracks but difficult to tell
  18. Not a happy climber had to send my zz2 off to be inspected as found four areas of concern one wear mark on side plate two poss scratch oppersite side of one three and four wear marks inside side plates by roller. Three and four really confusing as between roller and body
  19. I recently spoke with a petzl rep at the arb show, with concerns on weight limit on zz2 and ariel rescue, then we got talking about "the cracks" only the body of the mk1 was changed the linkage on the mk2 is from the mk1, also so I was told all failure cases are from abroad ? also in the region of 28,000 zigzag have been sold.
  20. easiest system so far is a pruss above as a fig 8 would have to be two handed leaving no had free for cas still waiting for a reply from petzl
  21. yes i agree bud that's why we practice this quarterly. but have also emailed petzl direct and there uk spokes people for there opinion. No question if required for real no messing about, just wana be sure practice ones wont damage zz also
  22. yer i understand that and that everything can take more than stated by manufacturer, zz is maximum working load 140 kg/one person rated taken from inst manual with product. But with that in mind would it not be prudent to back it up or overide zz with a pruss
