I'm sure Honey Brothers will give you all the info you require about the zigzag, as a climber using one regularly I have to say its a great piece of kit, easy to use, self tends well at a certain height with the right rope and nice and smooth on descent, although you may find it jerky at first until you improve your technique which doesn't take long.

Few picks from early thismornings impromptu rec climb after a callout.

Sling under zz for long pull up after getting a good shot with big shot.

Sling with revolver for return to fixt point after limb walk for double advantage.

Forgot my pully saver so didn't get full advantage of the self tending capabilities but enjoyed myself and stick made it home intime to make the wife breakfast for mother's day.

I'll try it, but having used a zigzag for over a year and only needing a pulley saver for total coverage of a tree with minimal effort I'm unsure as to your redirect. Like a Spiderjack you can skip about most limbwalks without that system.......I dunno.....keep practicing mate..see you soon!:)

Hi silky....just pm Gray git, asked him this question upon access to the tree and climbing up branch to branch,

had this on a oak this Saturday found it was as hard as hell to pull up and only a short pull up to the next branch.... It was getting that bad i nearly got down and changed back to blakes hitch or hitch climber.....

any ideas what i am doing wrong

Cheers Matty

The redirect idea is more for if you have to drop over a branch or fork and have an increase in friction from this. Just easing the load on tired arms. More for deadwood jobs where a lot of come down walk along a limb then return to start point and repeat.

Got 1, also works well I found but not always easy to use a pantin if lots of branches about as so easy to flick out. Excellent for free hanging assent work.
