Thanks for that Doobin, my mates sent me some pics of a switch i am likely to find in there.  When you say jump the switch, do you mean bypass it?  If so what is the best method?  Thanks

Removed the switch, cut the main wire going in.

  There are 5 wires.

Machine now won’t start but has ignition lights.

What colours do I join up to bypass, start machine and not blow myself up ?

Looks a lot more complicated than it needs to be ? At a guess, a pair do the hydraulic disengage when arm up, another pair do the 'don't start when arm down' bit, and the other seems to be an earth for some reason? I'd test the wires still attached to switch with a multimeter- you can see by the diagram that one pair should be open and one should be closed. If it's not doing this then switch is at fault- buy new swith and replace, using heat shrink crimps if yoInsert other media u don't want to be messing around with intermittent connections in the future.

Bingo!

what to do with yellow wire?

Hi Steve, I yellow wire is an earth so try earthing it to metal on the machine somewhere!

I dont think the switch is your problem if you are hearing the "click". Its most likely the pump drive. Try checking pressure with the machine running, or crack of a hydraulic line from the pump with the machine running. If there is no oil its the pump coupling.

Sorry, I’d like to think I do my bit when it comes to sharing information.

This one is different, it’s a straightforward heads up for guys to do their homework if thinking of any of the JCB Midi range as a carrier for a Shear.

I really rate them, but checkout the brochures and you’ll soon find the issue.

A solution is another thing altogether!

Eddie.

Well I’ve had a look, and for instance, the JCB 67c delivers 90lt @ 190 bar. The Kubota 57 does 76lt @ 206 bar. I must be missing something because I can’t see why the JCB might be considered lacking.
