Just a quick update to say thanks to everyone for the kind words and support through what has been a very difficult time since the arson attack on the Liebherr machine.

It is finally all going through, with Liebherr undertaking the repairs, and I have every confidence the machine will be perfect on it's return.

In addition I've sold the whole Kubota setup and gone with a carrier that can share all the big Liebherr attachments, but in different applications.

It was at the Plantworx show in it's base form, but will be having the mods added over the next cookie of weeks to become a compact powerhouse of a tool, ideal for roadside work or awkward sites the Liebherr can't access.

I'm looking forward to it's arrival and getting back to work.

Hi Eddie

Did you trade the kubota in or sell private? If you traded it, who was it with? I would be really interested in that setup.

Thanks Chris

The whole setup has been purchased by Ground Control for the mechanised division.

If you ever need assistance in a solution it's something I do a lot of for guys now. Cutting through everything to pull together a complete package that actually works really does take some legwork.

Anyone have any experience of Takeuchi TB230 or JCB 8026 ?

It's a bit of a toss up between the two, both would be new but I had a look at a couple of year old JCB the other day at a dealers and the cab was as rusty as anything, when I discussed with them which was best they said the Takeuchi was a way better machine than the JCB would be, and our local hydraulic place say they have had a lot of rams off new machines come in snapped recently, price wise they are pretty much the same, but JCB offered 3 year warranty and first service free.

It will mainly be used for filling bulk bags and loading a screener and then occasional jobs out on hire with me driving it.

Obviously the JCB is zero tail swing and the Takeuchi isn't

Opinions appreciated.

Go on the british construction equipment forum and type jcb in

I doubt you will find one positive post about the build quality of there new machines

I havent operated one but the machines just seem a shambles

I have operated various other new bits of jcb kit though

And they seem aweful

250hr old loadall on demo was a pile of junk

Very quick hydralics but the list of problems for a machine that old was ridiculous

Iv had Takeuchis of various sizes for nearly 8 years now, the latest being the TB125- you really can't go wrong with them in this size bracket- some say they wear on the pins a bit quick but I'm sure in part this is down to lack of adequate greasing as I would say mine haven't worn much since iv had them as I'm very hot on greasing.

The Tak 230 is a little heavier than the tb125 which means you will have to have a trailer which only weighs 550kg to tow it legally (there are options to do so out there- Bateson etc)

If it was my money it'd be the Tak, and the comparable model would be the Kubota KX71-3, both have decent rear overhang, excellent resale value and reliability.

Iv operated a few JCB minis and have been underwhelmed to say the least but they may have upped their game recently?

Their is the Yanmar SV26 which is more comfortably towable if after that...
