As it happens my workers were in the truck as we pulled up outside and she explained what she wanted and they herd the price as it was all urgent work, normally i tell em to feck off while i price etc.

Appreciate it any way mate still took the time to chat with me :). Ill send the invoice via email, then if no joy send a letter of intent also indicating that the tree will be returned if not paid for and see where that gets then just for the cheek of being conned ill file a small claim (its not about the money).

It's the only reason I work.

Maybe foolishly, I haven't read all the posts.

You could argue that removal of tree equals removal of all roots as well as the top parts.

How many of us actually remove all roots- none I suspect.

The jobs are

Prune

Reduce

pollard

lift

fell

grind stump to 'x' depth

Personally I see stump grinding as over and above tree removal unless specifically discussed. Some may argue you are pulling the wool over peoples eyes. Some may say if the customer wanted grinding they should say so. I think they should say so but I also think most tree surgeons understand the process and would ask if this is required at quote stage if only to drum up add ons.

Normally i would suggest stump removal but the customer wanted a cheap as possible price. Therefore the first way to lower the cost is exclude stump removal which is what i did.

Me also, I'd never get out of bed before 9am if I had the money.

Back to the op. I've had this sort of thing more than once, people nod their heads and say yes even when they don't have a clue what you are talking about, then they try and tell you what YOU said to them.

My old mum is very frail with Alzheimer's. Last Friday my brother got a call from the care home manager saying that she thought it was time mum went on to a more nursing based "ward", my brother said he would like to discuss this with her and mums doctor before any changes were made.

Brother turns up to visit mum on Monday and she has been moved. When my brother confronted the manager she said we spoke about it on Friday.

Yes they did talk about mum but nothing was agreed. Manager tried to argue the point, until my brother pointed out that all phone calls at his business are recorded.

People just don't listen. Then when things don't go has they thought they get shirty.

Grind the stump next time you are passing, grab ya money and don't work for people that don't listen to what ya say.

Business Terms - Tree Surgeon in Essex | T.H Tree Services | Tree Care

updated the terms view the bottom, now includes definition of tree removal, stump removal, tree reduction.

I will tidy it up asap and include all works we provide therefore it should help in future :D.

I would think, i am not a law expert, you need to highlight the date of which your terms and conditions have changed (eg today) and highlight the change to any existing clients who require quotes for new work to ensure they are aware of such changes?

With the job in hand, I would suck in the cost of the stump grinding and let the client sing your praises.

Hmmn,

I've encountered this problem before now and have been well done over so ALL my quotes now go like this.

The client crosses out the ones they don't want, signs the quote and send it back scanned or by post.

To 'dismantle' oak, cross cut 'larger' wood to no larger than 50cm and chip smaller branches, all arisings left on site.

Option 1. Stump grinding to at least 20cm below soil level.

(Does not include root system)

Option 1a. Re-instating area to lawn.

Option 2. Log splitting

Option 2a. Stacking wood in area discussed.

Option 3. Removal of wood chips and waste only.

Option 4. Removal of all wood, wood chip and waste.

The options work well because often we give the client the chance to undertake some tasks to save money like sweeping up after we've gone or giving the chip/wood to friends.

No ambiguities, it's all clear for BOTH parties.

Regards

Ty
