New 560xp Owner Advice

Hi All,

I had a new 560xpg arrive yesterday

Am not going to get a chance to try it until the weekend as I am stuck in the office for the next few days which is not so good!

Any advice from you 560xp veterans on running in? The handbook says to work it hard on a big log for 3-4 minutes after the first start to calibrate the autotune. Anything else I should be doing?

Also any advice on the best two stroke to use? I have been using standard Stihl red two stroke on my MS260 for years without any issues, but a friend advised it is better to use one of the higher grade "green" two strokes such as HP Super.

Also any preventative maintenance you would advise on these?

Cheers,

Matt

Don't " run it it " just go cut . Do set the auto tune from the start but thats all; you need do . Dont run it right out of fuel . Remember the ignition is always in the ON position . So to start choke on ( up ) primer a few pumps . De comp in , pull till it coughs push ignition lever right down to disengage choke ( it will spring back to ON ) de comp in 2 more pulls and it will start . Hot start one pump of primer , de comp in pull and it goes . Don't touch ignition/choke lever you will flood it . Take spark screen out of exhaust before you use it . Put it in a draw and forget about it . For even more go send it to petemate on here for a tweeking / muffler mod . 18" bar on a 7 pin standard or 15" bar using an 8 pin sprocket .

Thanks Stubby, that's useful advice. Any thoughts on two stroke oil? What do you use?

Had a good look over it tonight and I hadn't realised how long it had been since I last used anything other than a Stihl saw, probably over 10 years! It seems quite alien in my hands, everything in different places! It's going to take a while to get used to I think.

Can't wait to get out there cutting now though!

I use Red Line racing 2 stroke oil coz I can ! but any of the top brands Husky , Stihl synthetic 50:1 oil should be ok . Its the new type on / off / choke switch that catches people out . They forget that it is always on and some time flood it by putting the choke on thinking that are just turning ignition on . You will get used to it . Best 60cc saw I ever owned . :001_smile:

Standard Stihl hp red here, no problems.

Cut 10"+ dia stuff at high revs for about 5 mins without coming off the throttle to set mine up. Job done.

Do keep an eye on the side plate nuts and check them for tightness regularly. New Huskys tend to slacken off IME.

Remember to grease the tip sprocket and drum regularly.

Great saw, love mine to bits!

Was told by my dealer and a few outhers not to use the red oil but use the better green synthetic stuff, Huskvarna xp oil is better still or aspen for best performance.

DO NOT use cheep Tesco fuel as to much ethanol in it. The good brand hi octain fuel is better according to husky for these hi revving saws.
