I was having a chat to a business man the other day, he has been to quote a few manufacturing plants over in Germany this year.

One thing he noticed and picked up on was the lack of helmets, hi-vis and other ppe.

He asked the MD why ...

Because we train our staff to a high standard, was his reply

Air horn. Brilliant idea!

I suppose Heras fencing would be another way but the lay-flat red barriers work well although it is another truck load of stuff to carry to the site.

codlasher

yer and more stuff for the public to move out of there way which just inconvenience them even more.....:eck19:

"...and under the tape on the other side."

Is tape the most appropriate method, is it adequate? Doesn't sound like it. Perhaps you need to review your risk assessment and improve / upgrade the barrier method, i.e. proper highway barriers as the utilities use. OR assign an additional 'banksman' to the task.

OR...go work in the park, much nicer:biggrin:

Cheers..

Paul

PS Sorry, I do acknowledge that you cannot account for stupidity but in this day and age you have to being doing as much as you reasonably can and perhaps tape doesn't meet that standard.

could be right about the tape, when I was in Italy, the guys put three string of tape across every thing, when I asked why so much-'to stop the kids running under':blushing::blushing:

And as you now already know that tape doesn't meet that standard, you would be unable to rely on its use a defence if the worst should happen. :001_rolleyes:

interfering with the royal mail is a criminal offense, even the police have limited powers with them. (now its not royal mail) in years gone by it was a hanging offense

I can honestly say i have never interfered with a postman!

Have posted this before but here goes ,short version . Footpath closed signs each end , cones , plastic barriers all round drop zone . Jogger comes along , vaults the signs , dodges round the cones jumps over the plastic barrier jogs strait through the " kill!" zone goes to vault the out bound barrier and trips and falls flat on his face . picks himself up and jogs on . I was speechless .....

what would have been better is a big branch landing right in front of his face while on the deck that may have had the necessary effect!
