Getting rid of old tyres?

I need to get rid of a lot of old tyres (car/van/possibly lorry and a few tractor), a good lorry load at least. Is there anyone who collects them for free or receives them for free or is it a case of paying and if so a rough guide to prices please.

South Wales area if that makes a difference.

Some gym nuts might take the tractor and lorry ones, they love flipping them over.

You could try your local allotment society or community garden organisations. They might be looking for some for raised beds etc. Local schools might be interested too.

You could do the same as someone did around here a few years ago. Rent a barn/shed off a local fella, fill it with old tyres then all of a sudden.....The whole place goes up in flames.

Took a load dumped in a wood I manage to tyre shredding yard, cost me a quid each

Seriously, disposal is a real problem.

My mate manages a tyre place in our nearest town.

They spend rude amounts of money on legal tyre disposal every year.

You could search the net for people needing tyres for 'rammed earth' projects. Might have to go 50/50 on transport or you might be lucky and find someone who is willing to buy from you. The more of roughly the same size the better. Makes for uniformly layered walls.
