What wood do you want?

we're taking a 40' pear tree out in two weeks time.

 

is it any good for turning ?

 

Yes, but if the base section is any good (say 6'-8' long without any side branches) then consider that for milling - I would certainly be interested if it's a big enough diameter (a foot or so).

Hiya

 

Us axe and knife carvers love fresh felled birch and fruit woods, as do pole lathe turners.

The problem is getting a steady supply as once the wood is a few months old it is to dry to carve.

 

 

For us carvers some crooks are very welcome....
