That's a very bad cut.

Surely he was wearing no protection and must have slipped and dropped the saw pretty hard onto that part of his leg.

Possibly not even climbing at the time.

If you listen to the sound track he says he was cutting fire wood and slipped .....

Mother flipper! Thats nasty!

 

Wearing Cs is no replacement for proper technique tho.looks like the bar has gone into his leg and out the other side. I wonder if he was wearing any ppe (class A and boots)

If you look at what is left of his trousers, they are jeans.
