Ok so it's sounding like a bad idea to get a European type pick-up to tow a 3.5t trailer.

I suspected this so I'm glad to get this kind of feedback.

I'd like to get an F150 or F250 type pickup but worry about running costs and repair/service hassles.

Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!

Dont get a F150 payload is only 1/1.5ton max bud. If your going down that route min F250 but would be sound all round with a F350

I was looking at new trucks last night and going by the retail price I would go with the toyota, Ford haven't changed much and they are still rust buckets, my 09 ranger is riddled with rust, and they appear to be pretty expensive in comparison to what else is out there imo.

The Isuzu's look very tempting but will probably stick with my landies as whatever people want to say about them they do tow much nicer than other trucks I have used.

Got to say, I love the Hilux, but it is only rated at 2250, although plated at 2800kg!

Friend tows regularly with his, at max ratings and never had a problem.

Great Wall Steed - I'd rather walk! I looked at one at launch and the thing is a pile of S***!! Build quality and quality of all the materials inc the metal, which forms the structure is total garbage. Think it rather -1 in the crash tests!
