Trango Cinch as a lanyard adjuster?

I love my cinch, gonna miss it (new company legislation that I don't think it'll ever pass)

 

Lefty as well, saw and snap on the right, also use the lever when using for work position srt with a thimble, very handy (if a bit lively)

The Cinch is the best device I've used, for me anyway. 10mm rope runs well in it.

 

I posted in your Sidewinder thread, Old Mill. I simply cannot fault a hitch/pulley adjuster on my lanyard (mine is left too). Do you think your Sidewinder would work as well without the cinch?

Never been able to see the fuss with the cinch. I have one and dont really rate it. I used it for a good 6 months too so gave it a fair crack. Its functional for sure, can't fault it there. Its just not as smooth as my art positioner though

How often do you have to change the clutch on your positioner Steve? They look cool for sure, but for a £10 micro pulley and a £1.50 bit of cord I simply cannot fault my lanyard, and I'm trying! Plus it's not picky about the rope it grips, unlike my old grillon. (I can be careless with my lanyard...)

ART for sure if you can afford it, the Cinch is a cheaper alternative that works well.

Funnily enough I just ordered one, and thats the first time I have changed the clutch on my current one which is a little over a year old I guess. The previous one I had for about 2 years and just changed the whole unit when the clutch started to slip. They really aren't that expensive for what they are

I used one for five minutes once, and liked it. I just didn't notice anything substantially better about it than a simple lanyard. I've already paid out for a grillon when I started climbing thinking expensive hardware must always be better, since it cost more. I realise now personal preference is what it boils down to. That said, I may buy one when I have a spare 80 quid and nothing more useful to buy!

Personally think the cinch is a more versatile bit of kit (as well as cheaper) like the way you can attach/detach mid line and use it srt to get the full length of your lanyard (not sure if the positioner is designed to do that ), also you can use it as a belay if you inclined to do a bit of rock climbing,

 

Think it works just as well as the art but recormend using the 10mm flashlight, runs pretty smooth even when it's filthy, pluss it's dynamic so got a bit more play if you ever finding yourself riding the steam:001_smile:

The cinch with a dynamic rope doe it for me, great as lanyard both on the d rings as on the central point in SRT modus.

 

Use the beal unicore for it, nice rope and never slips.
