I started the thread "90 days to pay..", but its gone off thread a bit !, anyway, i got the job, we just have to now thrash out the finer points.

I've quoted to bring the grounds up to spec, & then a monthly maintanence charge per hour over the winter, which will be reviewed with the onset of spring.

I will need some new eqipment, i'm happy with 2nd hand, but would appreciate some advice. First off a better/larger mower, with 21" cut, i have a 18" already, a leaf blower, i don't have one, & a strimmer as i only have a small one.

Thanks for looking,

Rob

Etesia mower, if you want a cheap blower a bg86 from stihl is good. If you have the money a br600 will clear near enough anything. Strimmer wise a well looked after fs400 will do you well. If you want new the equivalent is fs410. Used both a bit and find them a good all round machine.

there's a chap on ebay, can't remember full username but it's something like harrythecat, he's based in Haverfordwest - does a lot of reconditioned ex council machinery for a decent price. Might be worth looking into, I don't usually buy secondhand kit but wouldn't hesitate to buy something from him .

Thank you folks, the advice & feed back is appreciated. There is a guy on ebay with a quantity of ex council mowers, with 4 estesias among them, & he's only at Nottm which is close to me. I will look up harrythecat & see what he's got.

If you are going to buy used for the blower and strimmer go for echo that are a as goo as stihl if not better. But far better value for money.

As for mowers their is no best mower I have had most makes and all have their downsides.

All of the x council stuff is coming through Brightwells auctions lots of cheep mowers some have little or no hours on them. Sale is on the second friday of the month at Madly in Herefordshire. All the big e bay traders go and fill up lorry after lorry some proper bargains. If you search Brightwells Machinery auctions you will get an idea of what i mean.
