Arbwork Mobile Saw Milling with Muttley9050 making Picnic Benches

Almost a mini Arbtalk meeting this day 7th Sept. as a result of conversations on Arbtalk led me to contact muttley9050 James to see if he would be interested in attending the above show with the idea of manufacturing something with the product from our mobile saw mill, I must to admit to being impressed with RobD’s bench or more at shows in the past and asked James if he would like to join us for the day showcasing some of his product whilst making a bench or similar. We parked in the centre of the site in Campbell Park and set up shop joined by members of the Parks Trust direct labour to include WoodEd and their impressive collection of equipment, with a back drop of Milton Keynes theatre we milled a small Oak log to produce board that James used to make his picnic benches I am impressed with his work. Although forecasted as bad the day remained dry with dramatic cloudscape and the rain held off until the heavens opened just as we prepared to pack up at the end of the day, hopefully the photos will tell the story better than words

Really would of liked to of made more rustic. But oak sapwood being what it is, I thought better of it.

Hi muttley, i notice from the pictures you have a dewalt table top thicknesser, how do you rate them. Do you use it much due to its portability. Nice benches by the way.

The dewalt is an amazing machine really. Planes wood as well as any static machine I've used and very good capacity for a portable. Use it on site loads doing interiors where you need random bits of wood to fit holes or repairing windows etc. Just wish I had the space for a 24" baby like delabodges.

I would always recommend it as money well spent. Especially if your workshop is on the small side.

The oak I planed that day was straight off the mill and it planed it lovely, but needed a little help to travel through. Kept sticking, especially the second face.
