new defender 130 chassis cab is 1858kg with a full tank and driver (from the land rover site). It's easy to get a 1000kg payload with a chip box fitted

 

HI KEV thats a single cab yes as a 130 new one 2149kgs thats a twin cab so easy get 1250 in a 130 if the tipper is not 500kgs :blushing:thanks jon :thumbup:

Mine has Ally body, high sides, tool box and very good springs;)

 

HI HODGE a good one 110 tipper body all ally body is less then 2000kgs more like 1900kgs so a 3500 kgs GVW one can take 1500/1600kgs easy get some better springs i say thanks jon :thumbup:

130 crew cab kerb weight is listed as 2086kg.

 

Every winter I fancy going down the 4x4 king/super/club cab tipper route, but always decide I simply need the space my Transit gives.

 

Not just chip and logs, and lets face it if you fill it you're massively overweight, but hedge cuttings and rakings as well.

HI MARK on the land rover uk site a double cab hcpu new one gross 3380 kgs and MKW is 2149kgs but only 3380kgs gross :thumbdown:thanks jon :thumbup:

I think defenders look great but thats where it ends for me, if i wanted a cracking off-roader id buy a wrangler, if i wanted to do day to day average domestic tree/hedge work id buy a transit.

If i wanted to do a lot of off road work and remove chip/logs id buy a Mog/Iveco 4x4

The only benefits I can see from a defender is its towing capacity
