Big Cross Cut Saw - very big Stihl Guide Bar!

Saw this on my travels today at the Sawmill; apparently it's for sale. V long Stihl bar caught my attention... If only I had the space...

Dosnt look much bigger than a bar you would find on a 088, maybe a 48'?

Isn't it called a "Ripping" or "Breaking down saw"?

 

They might have used it to Flitch or Break down big Logs into sizes that the normal headrig could handle.

or for cuttig packs of already milled timber maybe, i think they are called wallsaws nowadays. Seen something like it in action but more modern.

 

 

The bar is possibly the 56"(?) stihl used to do like on the 090.

The pic doesn't do the bar justice - it's 100 inches long!!!

 

Mainly used to cut packed timber but can do anything; would be ace for ringing real big stuff. Saw chain is electrically driven, pivots from the bottom, free end of bar rides down the arch frame hydraulically driven. Ripping chain...

I've seen these before, or similar anyway, I think its for trimming the ends off bundles so they are all even.
