All look really good.

Ref pricing - if you look at what it would cost to make if you had to source the components regularly.

Say £6 a hook = £36-00

Wood - £15-00 (you may have got at an auction but there is still your time and travel to account for).

Oil and sanding, labour at 2.5 hours = say £60-00.

Price £111-00.

So I'd say in answer to OP £120-00.

I know you got the hooks cheaper on that occasion but if you had to make them regularly you may have to buy hooks from a supplier.

Very nice. What oil do you use to finish them? Multiple coats with sanding / wire wool between coats?

I like Gray Git's wooden peg version too. GG, is that oiled / light varnish, or just raw wood?

Thanks.

Thanks, I only use Oslo oils now unless specified in commission and they won't change.

Finish on both of these is sand to 240 grit with power sander. 1 coat of Oslo poly X matt. Hand sand at 240, 1 more coat, 1 more sand and 1 final coat of oil. If you've never used Oslo oils before, do it, more expensive to buy, but better finish with a lot less coats. I used to finish chopping boards in 7 coats of tung oil, now I use just 2 coats of Osmo top oil and the finish is better and longer lasting.

Thanks Rob.

These are going like hot cakes at the moment. I can always buy hooks for between £2 and 2.50, depending on style. Blacksmith hooks are 10 but looking for cheaper.

I am going to put prices up a little, especially for the real nice bits of wood.

Heated up linseed oil and lemon oil,the timber sucks it up and brings out the grain colors without leaving a varnish like layer On the surface.

Thanks. I had a look at the Osmo oils, and as you say, they're not cheap! But the finish does look good.

Thanks. Sounds good too - not sure if I want a varnished finish, or an oily finish.

Think I'll have a go at making one, but I suspect it's not as easy as you've made it sound!

Cheers.
