Tree officer support?

Hi, all. My nearest competitor offers a 'tree officer support' service, this is a term I have not come across before and no idea what it is. Am I being dim/missing the obvious here? Any thoughts?

Those who do have a good relationship with their TO's could all do it, I often reference mine by name and give their number as support or for additional unbiased advice, for the client that is.

Yes...... but on reflection it probably repelled more clients than attracted, not that I cared, its just the stance I took, never afraid to discuss specifications with the TO, or try to advice the client of a better alternative to topping or unnecessary losses , that is the great thing about the relationship I have with my TO's and not just my local ones. I'm always saddened by most peoples perception of a TO, clients tend to be ignorant of the benefits they represent and contractors tend to be fearful of decisions they may make which often they think will bring about a monetary loss. Being a TO must be one of the hardest jobs ever, I take my hat off to em

It could also be that he/she is offering his services to LPAs as a locum TO (i.e., a temp tree officer to determine applications, recommend TPOs, give planning guidance etc.). A couple of consultancies do it round here - the contract normally precludes them from taking up work in that area but the fees normally make up for that!

When he is feeling a bit weak we give a truss to wear and it gives him all the support he needs in all the right places ........

Maybe it is supporting the clients in their dealings with the TO by acting as the agent on applications?
