I won't have mine out for a while, with the weather and such. But the next time I do, I'll put an in-line fuse holder on mine and try a selection of fuses.

I've used mine on the cig plug in my car and not had any trouble. I think that's on a 10 amp fuse?

Hi, haven't got a link as it's an old piece of laboratory equipment. I scrounged it when we scrapped a lab as it's dead handy for electrolytic cleaning (de-rusting) but have also found it useful for other things.

Next time I'm sharpening a chain I'll ask my wife to film it. I reckon with the sound on you can hear how hard the grinder is working relative to the reading on the needle (yes, it's the old type ammeter/voltmeter with needle readings!)

Alec

Thanks,

it would be less likely to grind things by accident as well, at least not so severely.

sorry, should have worded that question better lol :)

To power the grinder from a jumper, does the jumper have to have a good charge in it or can it just be plugged into the elecy 240v and pass power through to the grinder... hope that makes sense ;)

I just leave the power pack plugged in all the time (on charge).... as the charge goes down the grinder speed goes down...

Usually you charge through the ciggy lighter or 240 plug.

If you charge through the car they do not get up to full capacity so it's best to charge on mains at least once a month. I use mine then charge it after as it does them good to discharge (but not fully) and top up. Just check the gauge on the front occasionally to see what is left in them and don't let it get into the red too often.
