my wee boy is 3and a half, and is terrified of getting his hair washed in the bath, at first it was just a protest and we could usually persuade/bribe him, but the last 2 times have been horendous it nearly broke our hearts seeing him getting into such a state. now he doesnt want to go for a bath and keeps telling us he doesnt want his hair washed randomly through the day. i think he is generally terrified now, as i am not a fan of water, but the mrs thinks we need to persivere. any tips from a more experienced parent please are more than welcome.:001_smile:

Bath time should be the highlight of the day – so you must be going through hell!

Mate my advise would be don’t push it or make an issue of it (hard I know) Do you bath with him? If not I’d recommend you do. Just sit in with him, opposite each other and have fun, let him see you wash yourself and your hair, have a laugh and show him it can be fun. As he gets more confident have a splash, let him splash you, splash each other……with a little luck he’ll forget all about his phobia.

Good luck dude! :001_smile:

yes i enjoy the look warm bath, good fun. i would do all the daddy wash his hair stuff, he loved a bath. no one could have one without him gatecrashing. it was more with the mrs than with me, he would let my mum do it without question. thats why we think it might be a bit of an act for a reaction, but when it is your own kid, its horrible. if it was one of my nieces or nephews they would get dunked, sorry stew. tried the shower head andy, he used to love it, he even flooded the bathroom, hallway and it soaked thru the floor and into the kitchen he enjoyed it that much. we had to buy a de humidifier and repaint the bathroom with dampness paint. the wee monkey.

Dont do that, It'll scare the crap out of him ! :scared1:

I do that to my boy and pretend it's not me. He seems to find it a big joke that the big dude is all innocent when there is know one else in the shower...

but then again he doesn't react as swb' boy seems to. as I said, good luck.

Top advice!!!!!!!!!:001_cool:

Also do you take him swimming?

We take our four often on a Sunday morning, my wife and I look after the two girls 4 and 6, the boys who are 12 and 13 look after themselves. Its great fun!!:001_smile:

We have taken each of them for swimming lessons once the started school, I think making sure our kids are able too swim is one of our parental responsibility's.
