Use a wheel myself avoiding the rocks, heather doesn't disrupt it and run it along fence at deep hags, don't trust anything else.

 

I'm surprised the wheel is accurate over tussocks, humps, bumps and down through dips and gullies.

 

The thread on the Walk-tax can be a PITA when it snaps and you have to remember to hook it onto something to save it riding up in the air occasionally, but most of the time it seems quite accurate in my experience.

Its not completely accurate, you just have to use common sense at obstacles and do whats necessary to get it as near to as possible, nobody wants to lose out either way.
