Naming a new tree business

Hey folks,

 

Looking for some do's and don'ts for naming a tree care business. Helping a friend with his new start up. He's a fully quilified arb on the west coast(USA).

 

On top of some do's and don'ts if you have any good names you'd like to through out there that would be great.

Not any specific name ideas.

 

But if there's a significant populous of a particular ethnic group or settlers in your area, ensure that the chosen name doesn't also mean/suggest something undesirable in a different language.

He should think of his target market. Will it be primarily private or corporate customers. Using his name may be better for private clients. Using a set of letters, ABC Tree Care Inc., may be better for corporate.

How big does he want to get. Will 'Joe's Tree Care' fit the image of a nationwide company? Will 'Axis Tree Management and Consultancy' appeal to Daisy Duke?

Using his own name shows pride in ownership and services available. A mans name is only as good as the product or service he can provide. Take it from me.

Using your own name is fine.

It's customer care, pricing and quality of work that give that name a meaning.

Eddie stobart.

Bernard Matthews etc are normal names everybody knows.

I know he would like doesn't want to use his name or any real gimmicky names like- "Out on a limb tree service" , "Tree Amigos" etc. Not there is anything wrong with those names he's just not that in to them.

 

He also said that "Arborist" is a job title he seems to always have to explain. Although I feel the same in my area.

 

Do you think "tree service" or "tree care" makes a difference. I like the word "management" that Paul Jenks used. But it's not my company to name.
