Got me thinking...

Its not actually legal to take brash to your yard, or anywhere else, and burn it, its fine to burn on the site where its cut, but not to transport and burn.

I'm in no way saying people don't do it, just pointing out the legalities.

I never knew that, learn something new everyday!

Cheers though guys, It is nice to get some support :thumbup1:

Just picked up a 8ftx4ft trailer and I'm getting the landy on the road in the next couple of days, it's a start...

I don't think that is legal either. Burn on site or not at all is all you can do, I believe. :001_smile:

You're right of course! I was confusing the UK and here, where, if you're crafty, you can get rid of green waste at the tip by saying it came from you're own garden.

Oh you can do that here too, I think my local tip runs on the assumption I have a 10 acre garden

You're a luck man. Our local tip has NPR set up as you go in. All vans are stopped and theres a weight limit for the contents.

Our best recycling plant (Arundel) charges under £4.00 mtr for chips so its not worth the hassle (and waiting) at the amenity tip.

There is a closer commercial one but it's awful, I once saw the 360 driver drinking cider while working amongst us guys tipping out. I won't go there any more - and they charge twice as much.

I noticed that when clearing my parents house in Sussex a few years ago.

At the tip in Billingshurst I was interrogated at length.I swear I had this conversation.

Tip worker "where did this stuff come from?"

Me "my father's house, he is moving into sheltered accommodation and I am clearing his house"

Tip worker "and what relation is he to you?"

You couldn't make it up!

Yeah, but you know what lives all around Billingshurst.... they have to be on their guard around there.

Still, I'd rather the gyppos tried to take it to the tip than just dumped it on the roadside.
