Yeah, you always seem to get blue or white mould on it. Doesn't seem to be any way to avoid it. They always say that Sycamore has antiseptic qualities which is why the Romans used it for food prep etc. Must be something to do with it I suppose although I can't work out why.

its down to air flow, sycie seems to do it a lot. i dont store logs in a pikle any more but use vented bags and have no problems.

 

HI MATE it like IAN has said mate no air flow buy some stillage mate or just use ash and beech with more air flow and sun :thumbup1:thanks jon :thumbup:

My Syc gets that pinkish/whitish mould on the cut face . Its not a big deal though . I think it seasons quicker than anything else in the hard wood department . I leave it in the round till I need it also .
