i think its the blades would take the worst hammering, i done one last year for a big building company, same thing track machine dragged everything into a big pile, i told the site manager that i wouldnt put it through my chipper, so he agreed to hire one in, happy days.

There was alot of mud on it , I was taking a good look at that thinking of the bearings on the chipper , probably am of out of it , just shows what you got to compete against

It's just the way it is and why the Arb scene disappoints me so much, there are people on Arbtalk happy to work for such low margins in a tough industry until this changes and I doubt it will getting the right money will be always be a challenge.

Remember they might well be thinking 'oh dear, we should have three times as much on this'....

 

Doing a similar job for my old boss once and he put a road pin through his chipper that was tangled up in all the crud.

 

I would have looked at the job and walked anyway. Cretins.

Theres no shame in declining a job, or , if you want to maintain a more cordial relationship, overprice it.

Business is about what you don't do as well as what you do.

 

Like Sanglier says - if youre not desperate for work it can come pouring in. Why compete with mud monkeys for the crap jobs?

i really would love to no how they are still going at these silly prices as it has caused me to go bust big time. Just done 2 jobs in the last two months but priced up 20 plus each month. I price what i need to, I even went down the route of silly pricing just to see the out come.

 

Most of the time its father and son teams or Ill get the next door neighbour to give me a hand.
