Found this had happened today, have been using this 14'' inch bar on my 200t for under a year and I have found it to very good up until this afternoon.

 

So I have refitted my old Stihl bar.

done 55t so thought ,just dress the bar, a little burring,

 

it blunted the file.

so back on

 

how are you supposed to dress the bar ?

That bar looks abused going by the discolouration!!

In a year i wil go thru around 2 or 3 still bars and 15 + chains. Lucking at your bar it should of been changed a whike ago

I run mine cross a sanding disc and a belt sander no. Problems as yet.

In my opinion the bar looks a little abused. Robd is probably at the arb show so won't see this postfor a while

looks like some one needs to retake the nptc , thats coursed by a very badly sharpend saw ,i use the word sharpend very loosley ,operaters fault not the bar ,

On the whole the Sugi bars last longer and are harder to file because they are hardened as much as possible.

 

 

But not a problem, send it back - and I'll send you a new bar under warranty.

I will remember that!!! When my bars worn out I will give it death and no oil and return it for "warranty"

Ha ha! Well I think it's hard to say what has happened with this bar just from x2 pics and so I think fair's fair and benefit of the doubt should be given.

 

 

The Sugi bars are hardened as much as possible (I use a battery grinder with flap disc to dress the bar BTW) but on all the Sugi bars I have been using there has only been slight burring - i.e. no channel into the bar.

 

 

But the harder the metal the more brittle - there will always be a compromise...
