Same here, didn't wear gloves on 13mm rope but hands started getting trashed when I changed over to tachyon. Now I am using the thin red gloves from pfanner, they seem to give better grip on the rope than bare skin too. They do occasionally get snagged in karabiners though but I can live with that.

I climb on Tachyon and have gone through a few pairs of the Pfanner Fineflex. The problem I've found is that the only seem to last for a few days before all grip is gone.

Daniel.

I only wear gloves in larger trees to avoid rope burn descending and taking swings also help with grip ascending these thinner lines and when its very cold!! Find the Pfanner gloves work really well.

How does not wearing gloves knacker your finger joints?

The green builders gloves give you at least a 2-1 grip advantage, less strain on the joints. It would be like someone squatting with weights and someone else squatting without, who's knees are going to last longest

My joints are starting to feel the strain now at 49, I didn't used to wear gloves and suffered with carpel tunnel problems, tennis elbow... I started wearing gloves and now I hardly have to exert any pressure to grip the rope, haven't suffered carpel tunnel syndrome and our lass appreciates my now lovely soft hands

Traffiglove x-grip best glove i have ever tried, I use gloves all through colder months, not so much in summer.

A personal preference but do feel the advantages of good gloves for climbing cannot be doubted.

I generally don't wear any but having just moved to Canada I think I'm going to have to get some for the winter as it gets a bit colder than back home!!....I did go through a phase of wearing fingerless gloves for a while in winter which helped a bit and didn't really compromise dexterity but I couldnt find a pair that would last long and the guys kept taking the piss it of me calling me rocky!!....I'd be up a tree and they'd be screaming ADRIAAANNN!

i use cheap rubber coated tight fitting gloves reduces finger fatique incredibly.

stronger grip, less energy used plus offers a small antivib effect which all helps, keeps your hands warmer in winter which helps.

climbing without gloves seriously ruins your fingers at a much faster rate.

and i cant believe climbers still use prussiks, what a pita way of climbing with all the tech about now

2 dozen pairs of thin coated gloves for 13,50 off eBay. Much like the thin Pfanner ones, but at a price you can throw away after an hour or a day or two.

Suffer from eczema and very dry hands, so it really aids grip. A pain though when they get caught up in krabs etc.
