Going rate for freelance groundsman / climber

new boy or girl, green but with potential, £50 a day employed or £60 self employed, man or woman, who knows the job with tickets ON THE GROUND £90 to £100 a day, Man or Woman with Arial skill and fast with knowledge £120 to £150 a day, anything less you deserve what you get. PAY PEANUTS GET IDIOTS .

Should of also said, if you think you can charge more then do it, if you are worth it people will pay, the industry is on its a+++, wages are way behind what they should be given the training we are expected to do and the risks we are expected to carry out.

my advice would be go full time employed for a large company to start with, or the council if your lucky. You might only be on £7.50p/h but you'll get chance to practise your climbing and learn of the old hands who know how to make life easy for themselves. Subbing is great when you know what your doing but as an inexperienced groundie you'll spend all day chipping and raking up, so not the best way to gain experience.

 

If you do start subbing £60 for hard working brash dragger, £100-120 for someone who can run the rigging lines and can take over the climbing when my arms start to ache

Also need to check if your climbing and you break something is it on your insurance?

Yeah it's a bit of a catch 22 with the lack of experience and employment, don't want to be dragging brash for eternity, got some work tomorrow doing a bit of clearing and felling for a local estate, can't wait to get some saw time in.
