The evolution of my arb truck

Just thought I would start a thred about how my trucks have change over the last year to meet an increasing work load and and my love of modding thing's.

Start point my landrover 130, good hard working truck but sometimes lacking in room for all that chip.

Made worse by the purchasing of a brand new quadchip last september that just eats as much as we can feed it so filling the landy even quicker and more often

So after a lot of thought the decision was made I needed a bigger tuck, so do I go transit, canter, iveco, bigger landy? Do I borrow money for it? Mog would be nice but aint that rich, transit would do but overloaded easily and could do with 4x4 as do a lot of parkland work so back to hunting for a landy 130 single cab tipper.

Looked at a few overpriced dogs and got fed up with this idea !

A chance posting on arbtalk got me to look at an ex army rb44 so much resurch later and this beast was parked on my drive.

Now to start getting it making some money and find how it likes being an arb truck.

1st job new towball and drop plate from ebay , easy!

Then to hold woodchip, the canvas back was not strong enough to hold it and would be shredded in no time so I decided to line the frame with thin stock board as not too expensive and easy to work with

A bit of a mod with some pipe and we wer off, over 2 times what the landy would hold with no mess but a lot of shovelling at the end of each day.

Is there no way of fitting some kind of hydraulic ram to push the chip out? I'm not in the know just curious

I would have thought fitting an old transit tipping unit would be simpler and cheaper.
