If there is air entering the leak-off side of the fuel system it could cause fuel run back, partially emptying the fuel system on the supply side. Similar symptom if the tank vent is blocked causing a vacuum in the tank which can also cause run back. Lots of things to consider.

This is true but while the engine is running the return system is flowing so it wont run back while the engine is running it will just leak. The scenario you describe can cause reluctant starting but wont generate the symptom described.

hi ive just serviced the machine with all new kubota parts.the hydraulic tank air filter and hyd oil filter were in awful condition and the in-line fuel filter was a non genuine cheapy which looked like it wasnt ever holding enough fuel anyway the original filter looks pukka and has fuel allround it.if it still does it i will then go through the electrical switches one by one..

You cant really tell how canister filters are by looking at them for the little they cost swap it out to eliminate it as a problem.

Cheap non genuine fuel filters are not always bad news. I would rather have a handfull of cheapos than expect a genuine one to last a few years. You can get a bad batch of cherry and it will block a genuine filter as quick as a cheapo. Expect more fuel problems in the future with 5% bio now in the fuel.

Hi Hazelnut

On the rear of your fuel injector pump there is a fuel shut off solenoid fitted, this holds the fuel supply open electrically, allowing the engine to be stopped by turning the ignition key off.

The solenoid is fitted with 2 coils within it, the pull coil voltage is supplied from the crank side of the ignition switch during starting, whereas the hold coil voltage is supplied through a relay which monitors oil pressure and water temperature, so if you have an engine problem it will shut down the engine for its own protection.

Timberwolf has a dedicated technical support helpline that may be able to help diagnose the problem, give them a call they can be contacted on 01449-765820
