Yes, I kept the Ifor ladder rack on to add some rigidity, and the tailgate holds the back end together nicely.

I would imagine a full load of wet chip would be a struggle to tip, not intended to be brimmed with wet chip though, three quarter load of fresh, and the extra height will prevent lots of overspray, or a full load of dried biomass chip loaded with a machine over the side.

I'd suggest a cross-brace between the top of the centre pins if it doesn't get in the way of the chipper's discharge. I've got the same trailer with standard (slightly lower than yours) high sides that we line with ply and regularly brim with chip and it barrels out a bit in the middle when full (I suppose your profiled sides would add a fair bit of rigidity though to be fair). It's a heavy tow when fully loaded, and it has never failed to tip no problem if the battery is charged! I've tipped a 3.5 tonne load of stone without it breaking a sweat, and also easily tipped when mounded up with beech rings (don't know what that weighed but it was super heavy!). Best trailer available IMO, and those sides look great!

@ Pete

Looking for some sides and poss headboard coverage for a Transit Double cab with one stop body - 08 plate.

Need to be easily removable for getting brash, logs and bulky stuff in etc

Idea of price and if I wanted to go ahead, how quickly could you do them?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

The method I have used on the two Transits on this thread would be ideal for you. The only modification is two steel sockets welded onto the inside of your corner posts, and the sides lift off in one section, you remove the two bolts at the front, slacken off the two at the back, and lift it off. 5 minutes tops with 2 pairs of hands.

For any truck with sides less than 3.2 metres long, a pair of side panels in aluminium hollow section plank finished height 800mm (on top of existing dropsides) will cost £650 plus vat including fitting.

The split folding head board option I can add for £180 plus vat.

I would need the truck for a day at my workshop, and I could fit you in week beginning 22nd July.

Peter
