Ok. So without comp testing its either. Worn out pot and piston. Or a lack of fuel.

My first step would be comp test it. Then clean out carb and air filter. Then fuel system.

impulse line ?

Behind the carb is a pipe. Goes from the cylinder to the carb, provides an impulse driven by the crank. I think of it as a fuel pump. Puffs air into carb moving fuel...... Makes sense to me anyway. :confused1::lol::lol:

Best get it tested. Not sure what tech on here is closest to you.

Sounds like low compression - compression drops when a saw is hot and can cause re-starting issues.

Other than that - check the spark when it won't start and check the fuel lines, carb and impulse line - the line that transfers the crankcase void pressure and vacuum to the carb pumping section to pump fuel up from the fuel tank.

Driven by the pressure differential in the crank case, the crank drives is the clutch and the lube oil pump.

I might be totally wrong but I had similar problems with mine and it was the tank vent, the saw got really hot before dying then would not start for twenty mins or so, took the two screws out of the vent cleaned them reassembled and its been fine ever since
