From that am I to infer from the lack of answer on the other thread that the forst is even slower than a jensen 540?

Was told it is very slow. But haven't tried it myself to coment. Nothing tracks around like a green mech tho.

The delivery of our Forst tracked machine has been put back a couple of weeks because they are apparantly fitting a different pump which will make it track faster:thumbup1:.

Tracking is all to do with ratios, anything between 3-5kph is about average. Alot above a waliking pace is a waste of time, it's not a lot of use having a fast track speed if it has no torque when the going gets a little difficult.

Understood:

But,could you not have a manual valve that allows a higher flow to the Track motors when higher speed is required?I used to use a Mini digger that has this feature.

Many of the track motors have 2 speed by cutting out 1/2 of the cams that the pistons act on, often controlled off a foot valve that also prevents sharp turns when high speed is engaged

As has been said anything above a fast walking pace becomes a problem when standing on the platform holding the levers forward with your thumbs
